When talking about Japan, few cities come to mind faster than Kyoto, the home of Shinto shrines, palaces, and gardens. Referred to as the cultural and artistic center of Japan, Kyoto has a long-lasting history which tourist can still enjoy today!
Commonly known as the most iconic sight of Kyoto, the Fushimi Inari Taisha was enshrined on the First Day of the Horse during the Nara Period in Japan. Tourists come to show respect, throughout the shrines they may encounter one of the dozens of fox statues. Referred to as "Kitsune", they are known as the messengers for the gods.
When coming to Kyoto, Tourists will often be inclined to check out the Imperial Palace of the former Emporers. Visitors can take free 75-minute walk tours through everything from the Lotus Moat to the Niju-Bashi Bridge. The location of the palace is also convenient for tourists, as it is a 15-minute walk west of Tokyo Station.
